Green Eggs and Ham

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.”

Dr. Suess was born in March so I find it extremely fun for the kids (and grown-ups) to do a Green Eggs and Ham Party.  This works great if combined with St. Patty’s Day because everyone wears green for the event.  Children love role playing as we read the book!  Fantasy play for children stimulates brain development and encourages critical thinking skills.   Reading and acting out books by Dr. Suess is not only fun but fosters many important skills within the young mind such as literacy development, moral and ethical values, language competency and so much more!  So pick up a Dr. Suess book and stimulate those young minds!

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

To make green eggs, we simply put green food colouring in with the eggs and let the children scramble them up!

Life is short..so get up and DANCE!

For young children, dance is an expression of self.  When a child dances, he or she experiences a way to express feelings and emotions. If a child is encouraged to dance without judgement or confinement, he or she will begin to develop a healthy sense of his or her body.

Children move naturally. They move to achieve mobility, they move to express a thought or feeling, and they move because it is joyful and feels wonderful. When their movement becomes consciously structured and is performed with awareness for its own sake, it becomes dance. -NDEO

Life is way too short to sit on the sidelines…so put the music on and get up and DANCE!
